Aaron “Hambone” Mitchell was born and raised in California before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, beginning a career defined by courage, technical excellence, and service to others. He started his Marine Corps career as an Aviation Ordnance Technician with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron VMFA-122, deploying in support of combat operations to both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Following his deployment to Afghanistan, Aaron pursued a lateral move and earned the prestigious title of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. Serving with Marine Wing Support Squadron MWSS-171, Aaron participated in multiple overseas operations throughout the Pacific region, operating in high-risk environments where precision, trust, and accountability were critical to mission success.

After honorably separating from the Marine Corps, Aaron continued his commitment to public service by beginning a career in law enforcement with the Savannah Police Department. He has also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management from American Military University, further strengthening his ability to serve and protect his community through preparedness, response, and leadership.

Aaron’s dedication to service began long before his military career. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, committing countless hours to community service and leadership through scouting. During his time as an EOD Technician, Aaron also participated in a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command mission, working to help recover and bring home fallen service members from the Vietnam War — a mission that reflects his deep respect for those who came before him and the families still waiting for answers.

Today, Aaron remains focused on protecting and serving the community he calls home while working to build positive, trusting relationships between the citizens of Savannah and local law enforcement. It is his personal goal to leave the world better than he found it. Through his role as a Founding Member of The Call On Me Foundation, Aaron hopes to help establish a lasting resource that provides meaningful support to Veteran families in need during their most difficult moments.
